Heat Transfer Coils & Equipment

Armstrong Will Build the Coil You Need for Your Specific Application

In addition to auxiliaries including steam and liquid flow meters, control valves, air vents, steam traps, condensate collection and return equipment, and prepiped packages of these items, Armstrong also supplies coils, outer casings, and duct transitions. We can help with the whole heat transfer solution’s assistance and design development. Our experts can assist you in finding solutions to your issues and achieving the performance standards you have set for your steam or liquid coil system.

Air Cooled Heat Exchangers

Armstrong’s air cooled heat exchangers can be made with either light-duty core designs that are predominantly employed in the institutional sector, or with heavy-duty industrial pressure parts, as used in the 6000 Series. You can choose between a direct drive fan and a belt drive fan. Fan sizes range from 25 cm to 122 cm (10 in to 48 in). At 870 or 1,150 RPM, several direct drive fans are frequently employed.

Please get in touch with the factory as there are a number of variations available for these units that are dependent on the particular demands of the customer. The API 661 specification is where much of the structure comes from, although there are a number of ways to customize the unit design by making accommodations or deviating from the specification.

Base Mounted Tank Heaters

Armstrong offers tank warmers in three common configurations:

Flange-Mounted Bayonet—Types BHC and BHS
Base-Mounted Direct—Type BD

These three designs give users a variety of options to meet their needs for thermal performance and area coverage. There are numerous length, width, and fin pitch possibilities for each variety. All units can be built using seamless carbon steel pipes. Stainless steel is an option for both the hairpin and bayonet versions. There are also liquid-heated units and unique designs available.

Door Heaters

Door heaters are designed to deliver air at a suitable temperature and velocity (outlet velocity exceeding 2,000 FPM) to moderate entering air and reduce cold air intrusion. We can utilize our unit heaters as door warmers to warm the chilly air coming in via open loading-dock doors by fitting them with a high-velocity nozzle. Units can be used in various plant areas with different heating media because cores for steam or liquid are available.

Duralite Plate Fin Steam Coils

The Centifeed (steam-distributing tube-type), Standard (opposite-end connections), and Two-Row Return-Bend constructions of Armstrong DuraliteTM plate fin steam coils are all available. The standard material for Centifeed, Standard, and Return-Bend coils is 0.625′′ OD tubes. As an alternative, one-row coils with 1′′ OD tubes are offered.

Long Centifeed coils may need steam to be supplied from both ends, depending on the steam flow, to avoid cold tube ends and the risk of freezing.

Duramix Face and By-Pass Heating Coils

While running at full steam pressure, Armstrong Duramix heating coils regulate the air temperature. Duramix maintains the desired leaving-air temperature after it has been established, independent of changes in the entering air’s temperature. The Armstrong Duramix heating coil is straightforward but extremely efficient, and it’s also simple to install and keep up.

Flanged Mounted Tank Heaters

There are four standard arrangements for Armstrong tank heaters:

Flange-Mounted Hairpin—Types FHC and FHS
Flange-Mounted Bayonet—Types FBC and FBS

These four designs give users a variety of options to meet their needs for thermal performance and area coverage. There are numerous length, width, and fin pitch possibilities for each variety. All units can be built using seamless carbon steel pipes. Stainless steel is an option for both the hairpin and bayonet versions. There are also liquid-heated units and unique designs available.

Liquid and Steam Unit Heaters

Armstrong offers a variety of fin options, such as fin material, fin pitch, fin height, and fin type, which contributes to our heating cores’ longer lifespan and higher performance efficiencies compared to competing products. Each of these elements affects heat transport in some way. The secret to coming up with a cost-effective solution is knowing how to balance these and other aspects. Of the numerous unnoticed advantages Armstrong offers, this understanding is possibly the most crucial.

Armstrong’s options for fin material, pitch, height and type, for example, help explain why our heating cores last much longer and perform with greater efficiency than competitive units. These factors all have a bearing on heat transfer. Knowing how to balance these and other factors is the key to a cost-effective solution. That knowledge is perhaps the most important of Armstrong’s many hidden benefits.
